Lauren (dazzleandoutshine)
Hey, everyone!
My name is Lauren. I am 21 years old and live in Chicago.
I love singing and making music; baking; weird movies; children’s books; and bike riding.
I am also a feminist.
Learning about feminism, and identifying as a feminist, had changed my life radically. I barely knew a thing about feminism until my senior year of high school, when I took a course entitled Women’s History. I still have the textbook from that class to this day, and I refer to it often.
Becoming a feminist (or, really, allowing my feminist self to manifest, since I believe everyone would be feminist if they knew enough about it) allowed me to gain the confidence I never had growing up. It told me that every person, no matter what they look like or who they love, is beautiful and worth everything to the world.
Feminism made a self-hating, insecure and ignorant girl like me become the self-sufficient, take-charge, confident woman that I am today.
I would love to hear and respond to any questions pertaining to feminism, but I am especially interested in helping advance the Fat Acceptance movement, and also healthy body image for all poeple, regardless of biological or social gender. If you have a question about your body, women’s bodies in general, body image, beauty representations in the media, etc., I’m your person!
I can’t wait to start talking to all of you!
