Do you think you could explain a little bit about different types of triggers? It's not a concept I'm very familiar with, so I'd just like to know more about what sorts of things people find triggering so I can put those warnings on my own posts. Thanks.
The general rules I try and follow when putting a trigger warning:
1) If your post refers to something that you would never want to experience, never mind re-live it twice: post a trigger warning.
2) If your post refers to something that you would never want your loved ones to experience, never mind making them re-live it twice: post a trigger warning.
3) If you get called out and someone asks you to put a trigger warning: do it. Don’t ask questions, don’t try and justify what you’ve done. Apologise, put a trigger warning and move on. You’re the one with the privilege, not the person being triggered, remember that.
Basically, being triggered is when your taken back to an experience that you would never ever want to re-live. This isn’t being offended, being triggered can cause people to have panic attacks, depression and other pscycological experiences and feelings which can leave them feeling weak, powerless and depressed.
