I’m Emily and I’m a 23-year-old social worker from Tennessee. I’ve been a feminist since 2007 when I directed The Vagina Monologues for the first time, but I’ve only been a proud, open feminist for a little over a year. I am a newlywed and a Christian. I used to be a member of the church of Christ, a staunch Conservative, and a self-proclaimed “anti-feminist”. I honestly believed for years that I was undeserving of education, equal pay, and equal treatment. I am SO GLAD I found feminism. It has changed my life and my outlook on my life. I call myself a “well-behaved woman” because I’m still learning what a timid, formerly scared grrrl can do to change the world. I hope the Hub gives me a chance to grow even further… let’s go on this journey together!
